WHARTON STATION RURITAN CLUB

The meeting was called to order by Ruby Manning at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 10. Members present were Karen Ball, Obed Brabble, Brandi Dixion, Jeff Edwards, Buddy Harris, Lynda Harris, Carlton Manning, Ruby Manning, Tony Manning, Bruce Rabon, Carolyn Tyson, Harold Tyson, Gail Vickers, Dan Wallace, Bryan Weatherington and Phyllis Weatherington, for a total of 17 members.
The song “America” was sung by the members. Invocation was by Bruce Rabon.
We had a meal of chicken and pastry. Prepared by Tony Manning and Bruce Rabon.
Next month we are to meet at Deadwood on Dec. 7 for our Christmas Dinner.
The minutes from the Oct. 13 meeting were read, and a motion was made by Carolyn Tyson and seconded by Jeff Edwards to approve as read. They were approved by the membership. The treasurer’s report was read by Harold Tyson.
Carolyn Tyson read “Thank you” letters from Jeff Edwards and Buddy Harris thanking the Ruritans for their help and prayers.
Carolyn Tyson read the two awards that the Wharton Station Ruritans received at the Greenville-Goldsboro District Meeting in Winterville on Nov. 7. The first award was for recognition of participation in the annual birthday program. The second award was recognition of outstanding community service rendered by this Club in the field of social development.
Buddy Harris thanked everyone for their cards and prayers for Lynda and him during their recovery.
With no other business a motion was made to adjourn. We said the Pledge of Allegiance and we were dismissed 8:30 p.m. by Ruby Manning. I want to thank the Ruritan Club for allowing me to be their secretary for the last seven years. It’s been an honor to serve you.
