Mrs. Pearl Respess Boyd, age 97, a resident of Washington, died Thursday, December 24, 2015 at River Trace “Britthaven” Nursing Center.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Oakdale Cemetery of Washington, officiated by Derik Davis. Pallbearers will be Darrell Woolard Jr., David Elks, Charlie Elks, Russell Tyson, Bill Erb and Brandon Elks. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Washington County on February 21, 1918, daughter of the late George Samuel Respess and the late Margaret Jane Boyd Respess. On May 18, 1935 she married William Warren “Bill” Boyd who preceded her in death on July 15, 1982. She dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker and did not work outside the home due to being a polio victim. Mrs. Boyd was a member of First Church of Christ of Washington.
Survivors include four daughters: Janice B. Tyson (Russell) of Washington, Glenda B. Woolard of Washington, Judy B. Cassano (Tom) of Las Vegas, NV and Lois A. Boyd (Bill) of Chocowinity; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Boyd was predeceased by a son: Donald R. Boyd and a grandson: Steven Tyson.
