Delores Bateman Hudson, age 77, a resident of 408 Aycock Street in Washington, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. Mrs. Hudson was born in Plymouth on October 2, 1938 to the former Pauline Phelps and Harold Bateman who both preceded her in death. She attended Plymouth schools and in December 1958 she was married to Jefferson Hudson who also preceded her in death. She also had two sisters who preceded her in death, Gladys Hamilton and Brenda Joyce Bateman.

Mrs. Hudson was a mother and homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and shopping. She was also a member of West End Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children: Leonard Hudson (Emily) of Washington, and Debra Harris (Wayne) of Bath; grandchildren: April Waters (Bill) of Washington, Rebecca Hudson of Washington, Reba Ayers (Lee) of Chocowinity, and Harley Hudson of Washington; great-grandchildren: Lori Waters of Washington, William Waters of Washington, and Shannon Ayers of Chocowinity.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service, officiated by Pastors George Daniels and Phillip Jethro. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Tyrrell, William Waters, Lee Ayers, Walter Hamilton, Cody Lowe and Stephen Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Grimsley and Tommy Ivy.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations and other times at the home.
