Ann Dalton Brinkley Parker, age 78, a resident of Washington, NC, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, January 3, 2016 in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be officiated by Rev. Jacob W. Kines, Jr., Ph.D. of First Christian Church of Washington. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Alden Christian Manning, Robert Nicklaus Parker, Jackson Kirby Parker, Devin Michael Mantegna, Edwin Arthur “Eddie” West III, and James Winfield “Jim” Parker will serve as pallbearers.
Ann was born in Scotland County, NC on May 18, 1937 to the late Hugh Dalton Brinkley and Sallie Mae Rhodes Brinkley. On July 5, 1954, she married Robert Leonard “Bob” Parker, Jr. and they celebrated 61 loving years of marriage. Ann was an active member of First Christian Church where she served two terms as president of Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was a wonderful cook who also enjoyed golf, arts and crafts, and spending time in her yard. Ann was the owner of Ann’s Craftique where she shared her passion for crafting until 1987. Dinner and movie dates, playing cards with her friends, and her annual family beach week were some of her happiest times. Ann cherished her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include: husband, Bob; two children, Sharon Rhodes Parker Manning and husband Dr. Kenneth P. Manning, Sr. of Greenville, Robert Leonard “Bobby” Parker III, wife Jackie and her son Devin of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Christopher “Ryan” Whitford and wife Melissa, Marie Parker Manning, Alden Christian Manning, Robert Nicklaus “Nick” Parker, Jackson Kirby Parker; two great grandchildren, Steven Kyle Whitford, Madison Elizabeth “Maddie” Whitford; two sisters, Carol Brinkley West of Advance, NC, Sallie Brinkley Ross and husband John Riley Ross of Del Mar, CA; nieces, nephews, cousins, and her many lifelong friends.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Ann Parker Whitford, a grandson, Louis “Kyle” Whitford, brother-in-law, Edwin Arthur West, Jr and a sister-in-law, Martha Parker Worthington and husband Darryl.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
