From Arts of the Pamlico

Arts of the Pamlico is proud to present Union Bound, a premiere film screening at Turnage Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

This is a unique opportunity to a motion picture more than two months prior
to its national release, according Lauri Arntsen, program director for Arts of the Pamlico.

This amazing true story documents the challenges union soldier Joseph Hoover faces in his quest for freedom. The handwritten diaries and medals of Hoover will be on display during the event. Following the film, the producer and cast members will be on stage to discuss the movie and answer questions from the audience.

Union Bound is a production of Uptone Pictures based in Wake Forest. Footage for the film was primarily filmed in Durham and Edenton and has strong historic ties to eastern North Carolina and the Underground Railroad, for which a museum is being dedicated here in Washington. This is an awesome educational opportunity for school groups and history buffs alike. The film will not be shown anywhere else until it hits theaters nationwide on April 22. Free family movies that celebrate black history will be shown throughout February on Tuesday afternoons, 4 p.m. at Turnage Theatre. Refreshments will be available.
