Mrs. Murtie Whisenant Daniels, 81, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 1:30 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Phillip Boykin. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Daniels, a native of Pitt County, lived most of her life in the Grimesland community. She was employed with National Spinning Company in Washington for 40 years. Mrs. Daniels attended the Pentecostals of Greenville and Riverview Baptist Church in Washington. She was a hardworking woman, who loved gardening and especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Daniels was preceded in death by her parents, Hobert Jason and Rosa Hardy Whisenant, her husband, Linwood Earl Daniels, brothers, Roy David, Walter Jason and Fonzie Whisenant, and sisters, Dorothy Singleton, Katherine Harris and Hazel Jenkins.
She is survived by her: sons, David R. McLawhorn of Linden, NC, Danny T. McLawhorn and wife, Patty, of Washington, Kenneth Daniels and wife, Christy of Black Jack, and Tony Lee Daniels and wife, Kimberly, of Washington; step-son, Lenny Daniels of Ayden; grandchildren, Amanda McLawhorn Burke and husband, Chris, Zachariah McLawhorn and wife, Bridgette, Ethan McLawhorn, Jason McLawhorn and wife, Genelee, Linwood Bryan McLawhorn, Jessica Best, Kendall Daniels and MaKenzie Daniels; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Harper, Chloe and Erin; sisters, Goldie Roberson and Lillian J. Phillips, both of Washington; and a brother, Ottis Whisenant of Chocowinity.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times will be at 574 Grimesland-Bridge Road, Washington.
