An article printed in the Daily News’ weekend edition about the effort to prevent closure of the pool at the McConnell Sports Complex mistakenly quoted a city memorandum, stating that the Beaufort County Board of Eduction was willing to contribute $25,000 to the effort. The Board of Education released the following statement Saturday regarding the issue:

“At this time, the Beaufort County Board of Education has not made a commitment to financially support the swimming pool project at the McConnell Sports Complex. A presentation on the current situation was made by city officials to the Board of Education during the May 4 meeting. The presentation was made as a non-action item.”
