“No matter where she was or what she was doing, Margaret Mallard had a smile on her face,” recalled Tracy Mayo, president of Mainstreet Collection. “And I can’t remember her ever missing one of our warehouse sales!”
It was only natural for MSC to honor Margaret’s memory with a donation to three of her favorite charities. Marlene Sprouse, president of Saturday Night Jamboree, stated, “Every wonderful word you can think of describes Margaret and what she gave to everyone in our communities. She had no idea how impactful she was to so many people.”
Established in 1973, Saturday Night Jamboree provides a monthly social gathering for all mentally and physically challenged residents serving Beaufort, Martin, Washington and Hyde counties. Danny Allen and Jim Pagan received the First United Methodist Church’s check in memory of Margaret. The Prayer Garden is a very special place for the Mallard family as it is Margaret’s resting place. Margaret and her family have been longtime members of the methodist church.
The Shepard Cancer Center was also the recipient of a check, as well as Margaret’s time. She spent hours, as her husband Lawrence remembered, selling purple ribbons for the cancer center. Margaret lost both of her parents to cancer. Catherine Pfeiffer, secretary of the Shepard Cancer Foundation Board, thanked the Mallards for Margaret’s time and support for the Shepard Cancer Center.
