Beaufort County has been placed under a flash flood watch by the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City.
The watch is in effect from this evening through Tuesday afternoon for the following counties: Pamlico, Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Jones, Dare, Hyde and Onslow.
“Periods of heavy rain ahead of Tropical Storm Colin will develop this evening and last through Tuesday morning,” according to the NWS. “A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.”
