Blair Christy Hackney Levine died Monday, June 6, 2016 after a 15-month courageous battle with inflammatory breast cancer.
Blair was a loving wife and mother who cared for others before herself. Throughout her life, Blair was known as someone who cared for children. She volunteered many hours at Carver Elementary School in Pinetops helping teachers and children. Not only did she give her time helping the teachers, but also gave love, support and encouragement to all the children she encountered. For those who knew her, she will always be remembered as a person who put others before herself, a good “cooker” as her children said, and most of all, a devoted mother.
More than anything, however, she loved her four children, Brittany, Jenna, David and Anderson and cherished every moment she spent with them. During her illness she continued to put her children first and had her healthcare providers work around her children’s schedules. They were always first in her life and will be her legacy.
Blair was preceded in death by her brother David Paul, her maternal grandparents Hassell and Hack Thigpen and her uncle Billy Thigpen.
In addition to her four children, she is survived by her husband Scott David Levine, the love of her life; mother Lula Hackney (Lou) Thigpen Mallard and her husband, Henry Mallard; aunt Lorna Thigpen; great uncle Bud Ruffin; great aunt Jane Allen; and many cousins.
The family would like to thank many friends and members of the community for their love and support for Blair and her family.
A service to honor Blair’s life will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11 AM at Greenwood Cemetery, located at 1000 Howard Avenue, Tarboro, NC, with the Rev. Ben Kane officiating.
Arrangements are by Carlisle Funeral Home, Inc., of Tarboro. Condolences may be directed to the family at www.carlislefuneralhome.com.
