WATERFRONT WELCOME: Washington Mayor Mac Hodges has signed a proclamation, welcoming the United States Power Squadrons (USPS) District 27’s Summer Rendezvous to the Washington waterfront. USPS is a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable through education and skill building. It is nationally made up of 33 districts, and District 27 is comprised of 20 squadrons within North Carolina. The Rendezvous will take place at the Washington waterfront and will include a number of interesting events on June 18, beginning with the official Flag Raising Ceremony at 9 a.m., a Virtual Boating Trainer throughout the day and a special presentation at the N.C. Estuarium on Washington’s maritime history at 1:30 p.m., which costs $4 per person. The hosting Pamlico Sail and Power Squadron will provide a tent with boating and safety information throughout the day, as well. All events are open to the public.
