Donald Gray Harris, 69, of 781 Lake Swamp Road, Engelhard, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Hyde County on January 22, 1947, he was the son of the late Carl Cahoon and Elma Gray Midgette Harris. He was married to the former Barbara Styron Fletcher, who preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Engelhard Christian Church. Donald spent most of his working years in the seafood industry, owning Gull Rock Seafood and Harris’ Steak and Seafood House in Fairfield. His special enjoyment was gardening.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016 at the family plot in Fulford Cemetery. Scott Sukeforth and Jerald Craddock will officiate.

Surviving is his daughter Jael Reynolds of South Carolina, a stepdaughter Margaret Tillman and husband Tim of Fairfield; a stepson Ricky Fletcher of Manns Harbor; two sisters Diane H. Pugh and husband Earl Jr. of Engelhard, Tammy H. Sadler and husband John of Engelhard, his girlfriend Belinda Knight Berry of Engelhard; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers James Harris and Carl Jeff Harris.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter, and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pugh Jr., 32 Nebraska Rd., Engelhard.
