Clen Gilbert Reel

Mr. Clen Gilbert Reel, 79, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at his home.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 PM at Tranters Creek Church of Christ, officiated by the Rev. Phillip Paul. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2:15 PM.

Mr. Reel, a native of Pitt County, was a son of the late Clen Madison and Lissie Buck Reel. In 1958 he made his home in the Pactolus community with his wife and farmed for many years, retiring when his health would not allow him to work. He was a member and president of the Tranters Creek Hunting Club for many years. A member of Tranters Creek Church of Christ, he was a wonderful father and family man.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Reel; a brother, Richard Reel; and a sister, Ramona Cannon.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Trevlyn Ward Reel; son, Mike Reel and wife, Debbie, of Greenville; daughter, Melinda Reel Smith and husband, Mark, of Greenville; grandchildren, Bradley Reel, Gary McRoy, Tabitha Reel, Chelsea Reel, Christopher Smith and Kaitlyn Reel; great-grandchildren, Adolphus Reel, Jaxson Beaman and Maddox Hardee; and sisters, Betty Lou Letchworth of Greenville and Jeanette Dixon of Vanceboro.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation for all of the care given to Mr. Reel by the staff of Vidant Hospice.
