Willard Lee Rumley

Mr. Willard Lee Rumley, age 79, a resident of Reidsville, North Carolina and formerly of Washington, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2016. He spent his last days by the Pamlico River he so loved, surrounded by the children he adored.

The family will receive friends at the home of Dr. Jeff Rumley of Washington, North Carolina. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 12 noon at Faith Christian Church. Services will be conducted by Reverend Cleveland Duke. A visitation will be held at 11 am, one hour before the service.

Burial will follow at the Reidlawn Cemetery in Reidsville, NC. Pallbearers will be John McKinney, Boyd A. Hooper Jr., Henry Douglas, Scott Greene, Davis Lane Rumley and Willard Lee Rumley IV.

Will was born in Rockingham County on February 14, 1937 to the late Lymon Beecher Rumley and Evelyn Putnam Rumley. He attended Reidsville High School where he played football, the game he loved. He went on to attend East Carolina University and later served honorably in the United States Seventh Army.

Will moved to Washington, North Carolina in 1969. He had a passion for real estate and sold real estate in Washington and Eastern North Carolina for many years before moving to Corolla in 1989 where he founded Rumley Realty. He retired in 2005 and returned to his hometown of Reidsville. Will was a faithful and dedicated member of the Faith Christian Church. While in Washington he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed many long walks on the beach with his faithful dogs Beau and Chase.

Survivors include his sons Dr. Jeffery Lane Rumley and his wife Dr. Kathey Barksdale Rumley, Willard Lee Rumley III, MBA, and his wife Victoria Kursovskaya Rumley, and Gary Beecher Rumley and his wife Laurel Bone. His grandchildren include Davis Lane Rumley, Willard Lee Rumley IV, Isabella Evelyn Rumley and Reagan Wayne Rumley.
