Crystal Joy Cornelius

Ms. Crystal Joy Cornelius, age 38, a resident of Croatan Avenue, Bath, died Saturday, August 13, 2016. Crystal was born in Belhaven on February 3, 1978 to Carolyn and Carlton Cornelius whom survive. Crystal attended Northside High School and later worked as a waitress at the former Curiosity Shoppe, The Meeting Place, and The Ne’er Do Well, all of Washington. Crystal was a hard worker who always believed in making sure her customers had everything they needed and always served them with a smile. She was predeceased in death by her maternal grandparents, Roy and Arline Kirk and paternal grandparents, Charles and Naomi Cornelius. Surviving in addition to her parents include two sisters, Lynda Cornelius Potter (John) of Vanceboro, NC and Tara Cornelius Webster (Timothy) of Bath, two nephews and three nieces. Crystal was an avid animal lover and loved especially her dog Marley.
A graveside celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Ryder Hill Cemetery, Old Pamlico Beach Road West, with Rev. Gary Jones officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at the home, 379 Palm Drive, Belhaven. Flowers are appreciated or memorial donations may be directed in her memory to Hillside Funeral Service to help the family with medical and burial expenses. Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E, Washington, has been given the honor of being entrusted with serving the Cornelius family.
