Jay Allen Waters

Jay Allen Waters, age 57, a resident of North Boyd Road, Pinetown, NC, died unexpectedly Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at his residence. Jay was born June 10, 1959 to the late Grace Keech Waters and Hubert Waters. Jay was a graduate of Bath High school, Class of 1977 and Beaufort Community College, Class of 1979. On August 8, 1981 he married the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Cahoon Waters who survives. Jay was a life-long resident of Beaufort County and was also a life-long member of Hunter’s Bridge Church of Christ where he had served as a past deacon. He was a active member of the Pinetown Ruritan Club and worked for Feyer Ford of Plymouth, NC, until his retirement in 2008. Jay had a quick wit and outgoing personality. He loved people, and people loved him; he was always the life of the party. Jay and Pat enjoyed dancing, especially shagging, and cruises to anywhere. He had a great love of cars, especially Cadillacs. His latest baby was a 1996 Fleetwood, which he drove with pride and kept in immaculate condition. Jay loved spending time with his family and especially his loving wife Pat and son Justin who was the apple of his eye. In addition to his wife and son, other survivors include his special niece, Charlene Turner of Williamston, NC, “his other son,” Thomas Everett of Wake Forest, NC, and great friend and cousin, Jackie and Mack Wallace of Pinetown, NC. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 26, 2016 at Hunter’s Bridge Church of Christ with Pastor Bud Ball officiating. Music will be provided by Kay Tetterton.
Burial will follow at the Waters Cemetery on Jones Bridge Road, Pinetown. Mack Wallace, Travis Russ, Billy Waters, Johnnie Waters, A.W. Cooke, Kenny Woolard, Lee “Coop” Cooper and Charlie Respess will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Webster, Roger Register, William Woolard and Wayne Radcliff. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hunter’s Bridge Church of Christ, 15181 US Hwy 264 E, Pinetown, NC 27865.
