Write Again … Column readers choices

The Washington Daily News “Readers Choice 2016” contest was an interesting and clever endeavor.
According to Carol Crittendon, the paper’s advertising director, 2,073 people cast 104,328 votes for the 414 individuals and businesses selected as favorites. Now, that’s impressive.
So, this successful enterprise set me to thinking. Why don’t I sponsor my own “Column Readers Choice” contest? Why not, indeed?
My categories will, perhaps, be just a tad different than those of the Daily News. I’ll outline the voting procedure at the end of this piece. Ready? Then let’s begin.
Who is your favorite physician to perform a colonoscopy?
What is your favorite preparation protocol (that which you are required to drink) the day prior to the procedure?
Which do you enjoy more, a root canal or tooth implant?
What is your favorite store to sit in – or stand in – and wait, and wait, and wait – while your spouse looks, and looks, and looks (it’s called shopping) for that certain-just-right-item?
Where is your favorite location that you pass by and inhale second-hand smoke?
Who is your favorite person who tells you in great and lengthy detail every bit of his/her current medical history, just about every time you meet?
What is your all-time favorite televised county commissioners meeting? (You know, those meetings where no member insults, lectures, or bullies his fellow commissioners.)
Who are your very favorite rap or heavy metal entertainers? (A tough choice, as there are certainly many such “artists” that we all enjoy and admire.)
Who is the professional athlete with the most “body art” you admire?
Which of the hundreds of Jerry Springer TV shows do you think was the best of all? (Also difficult, as so many were intellectually stimulating, we can be assured.)
What was your favorite unsolicited sales/marketing/political/survey telephone call? (They are all good, of course, especially those that come at meal time.)
That’s enough for now. You may just hold onto your ballots until someone contacts you. Be patient. We’ll let you know the results. In time.
