Eliza Elizabeth “Liz” Tyson Kornegay, age 77, a resident of Washington, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be officiated by Travis Boyd. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Jesse Taylor, Vernon Peele, Glen Smith, Ashley Ennis, Kaleb Jones-Taylor and Matthew Bloodworth will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Kornegay was born in Beaufort County on November 8, 1939, to the late John Scott Tyson and Beatrice Jones Tyson. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening and having cookouts. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include five children, Pamela Petrokovich and husband Tom, Karin Taylor and husband Jesse, Teresa Whealton and husband Tim, all of Chocowinity, Charles “Chuck” Banks of Washington, Charlotte Calderon and husband Ubaldo of Grifton, ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, three brothers, Russell Tyson and wife Janice of Washington, Herman Tyson of Chocowinity, Earl Tyson of Washington, two sisters, Hazel Waters of Pinetown, and Betty Beacham and husband Mike of Washington.
She is preceded in death by a grandson Brian Taylor, and two brothers, J.C. Tyson and an infant brother.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
