Washington resident Chris Smith had an unexpected brush with danger Tuesday afternoon. As he ate lunch at Bill’s Hot Dogs at Washington Square Mall, he was informed that his 1999 Grand Prix parked out front had caught on fire. Washington Fire-Rescue-EMS, Washington Police and Bunyan Volunteer Fire responded to the scene and had the fire under control within minutes. It didn’t affect the nearby building, and no one was injured. Smith said there was a recall on the vehicle regarding an oil leak in the engine, but he didn’t know it would lead to a fire.
