Mildred Cox “Mil” Johnson

Mildred Cox “Mil” Johnson, age 91, a former resident of Washington Harbor, Washington, and a more recent resident of The Fountains of the Albemarle, Tarboro, NC, died Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Vidant Pitt Palliative Care Unit in Greenville, NC. She was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Stella Cox. She was born May 23, 1925 in Beaufort County and was a member of First Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank D. Johnson in March of 1982 and her daughter, Ellen Johnson Alexander, March of 2005. She is survived by her son, Val Johnson Jr. and wife Franny; her grandson, Duval Johnson III and his fiancée Hannah Hogan; her granddaughter, Nita Johnson Lee and husband Steven; and five great-grandchildren, Macon, Davis, Cutler, Eliza Lee and Lucy Johnson. A private burial will be held at the family plot at Oakdale Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beaufort County Community College Foundation or First Christian Church, 307 E. 3rd Street, Washington, NC 27889 in memory of Ellen Johnson Alexander.
