Carolyn Walker has been serving on the Beaufort County Board of Education for the past four years. She serves District 7, which covers the Washington attendance area.
Walker is known for her passion and caring attitude toward the staff and students of this county. Even though she serves District 7, there are no boundaries where she is concerned. She works hard to ensure students in the county has everything they need to be successful.
Chairman Terry Williams said: “Any description of Carolyn Walker as a school board member must include at least three words: knowledgeable, dedication and respect. As an active board member, Carolyn is always knowledgeable and aware of what is taking place in our schools. She is approachable and works diligently to make our schools outstanding. She has great relationships with parents, students and staff because of her dedication to understanding their needs and her willingness to work towards improving their educational experience.”
Williams continued: “Carolyn has gained countywide respect by being a huge advocate for teachers and students. The tremendous amount of effort she puts into this position has certainly gained my respect, and I am honored to serve with her.”
Walker is married and co-owns a business in Washington with her husband Randy, and they have two children. Her daughter teaches in the district, and her son has previous ties to education in Beaufort County. She also has two sisters who are educators in Beaufort County.
Whether Walker is supporting an athletic team or visiting schools for upcoming capital budget decisions, one will know that she is looking out for the best interest of each and every member of the Beaufort County Schools team.
Over the next several weeks, the Daily News will be highlighting Beaufort County Board of Education members, as part of a spotlight series about the members’ backgrounds and their roles on the board.
