Eastern Elementary School students make gingerbread houses to celebrate the end of their literacy unit on gingerbread. Gina Resendez’s kindergartners have been reading various versions of “The Little Gingerbread Boy,” including “The Gingerbread Baby” and “The Gingerbread Girl.” Students have practiced skills such as comparing/contrasting the books, sequencing events and writing alternate endings to the story. Students have enjoyed using gingerbread dough to roll out letters of the alphabet and to make holiday ornaments.
