The Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce honored Washington Jewelers on Monday for its 55 years of service to the community. Executive Director Catherine Glover presented Sonya Fortescue with a plaque, and Mayor Mac Hodges presented her with a bicentennial commemorative coin. Business owner Jimmy Fortescue announced his decision to retire in November and to close the store once inventory is sold.
