Robert J. Perry Sr.

Mr. Robert Joseph Perry Sr., age 87, a resident of Austin Tyler Road, Washington, died Sunday, February 12, 2017. Robert was born July 23, 1929 to the late Mamie Gardener Perry and Cager Franklin Perry in Williamston, NC. He attended Martin County Schools and later served his country in the US Army. He retired from Southern States in Farmville, NC and FCX of Washington, and also worked as a fish farm equipment operator. His last employer was Piggly Wiggly of Washington. Robert was also member of Washington Assembly of God, Washington. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by one sister, Hazel Frink, and two brothers, Leroy Perry and Pop Gardener. Survivors include two sons, Robert J. “Bob” Perry Jr. and Michael A. Perry and wife Julie Cutler Perry, both of Washington; one granddaughter, Allison L. Perry and one grandson, Jacob S. Perry, both of Washington; and his former wife, Mary Perry Brewer. He will also be missed dearly by his little dog “Toby.” A celebration of his life will be held 1:00pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Greg Ramsey. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at the home.
Graveside services with military honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Williamston.
Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E, Washington, has been given the honor of being entrusted with serving the Perry family.
