There were serious injuries but no fatalities Monday night when a truck collided with a golf cart in Belhaven, according to an EMS official.

The accident happened near Speedway at approximately 7:30 p.m., the two vehicles colliding at the intersection of N.C. Highway 99 and U.S. Highway 264.

Shortly after, two East Care helicopters were dispatched to pick up those with serious injuries.

At 8:30 p.m. another paramedic was dispatched to Speedway, because the driver of the truck was requesting medical attention as well.
