Linda Hudson Wainwright, 67, of 111 Ashley Drive in Washington, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017 in Ridgewood Manor. Ms. Wainwright was born on December 2, 1949 in Washington County to Nora Lorena and Harold Edison Hudson.

Ms. Wainwright attended Peace Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and recently White Dove Holiness Church Inc. She graduated from New Bern High School; after graduation, she worked as a seamstress with Washington Garment Factory and since retirement she enjoyed having yard sales.

Surviving include her best friend and caregiver, her son Christopher “C. J.” Jay Wainwright of the home; her two nieces Carol Spain of Washington and Teresa Barrow and her husband Scott of Pinetown; nephew Wayne Congleton of Washington; and several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Frances Congleton Banks.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2017 in Peace Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. David Thompson, Bishop Tyrone Logan Sr. and Rev. Edwin Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 6:30–8:30 PM and at other times after 5:00 PM at the home of Carol Spain, 652 Neck Road in Washington.
