Winter isn’t the time for dragonflies at Pocosin Lakes Refuge or this region, but any time of the year is great for learning dragonfly facts. Dragonflies eat a variety of insects such as mosquitoes, ants and wasps. They can fly up to 60 mph. When hunting food, they have a 95-percent capture rate, and are thought to have the best vision in the animal kingdom. When the weather warms up and you visit the refuge, keep your eyes open for these amazing creatures.
