Write Again . . . Watch where you step

One of the entrepreneurial endeavors that has become more popular over the last not so very many years is that of event venues.

You know, appealing places and facilities that provide a nice setting for special events.

We have several such places here in our area. Weddings, receptions, reunions, conferences, retreats, just about anything you might imagine can be held in these facilities.

There are such places all across our state, from the mountains to the coast, and many locations in between.

So, I ask myself, “Why not us?” Why not, indeed.

We have some land on either side of our house and yard that might well be suited for an event venue.

A real plus would be our cow condominium (some might call it a barn). Although our large ladies’ family room is rather small, we could fit a few people in it.

And the upstairs loft — which is accessed by a ladder-like appendage affixed to the wall — could accommodate a few folks. We could squeeze in three or four people, if they aren’t tall, as the roof allows for standing erect only in the center of the space. They would sit on hay bales.

On the day of the event I’ll make sure most of the processed food issued by Gladys and Babe is out of the way. As best I can. Also, attendees will need to step very carefully while out in the pasture area. Very.

We’ll try to keep our bovine beauties away from the guests, but their natural curiosity may cause them to check on what is going on. We’ll keep a bit of hay available away from the actual site.

Everything else is just details. We can make things work. I mean, how hard can it be?

We need now to come up with an enticing name for our venue. Such as Bovine Trace. Or Manure Manor. Or Mimosa Meadow. Or Cow Pattie Place. Or … Please pass along to us any names you might think of.

Now we just need to get our marketing plan in place.

After which, we’ll watch the money roll in.
