G. Douglas Paul

G. Douglas Paul, 59, went to be a broadcaster at the Lord’s station on March 7th in Atlanta, GA. He was the son of Dick and Lorraine Paul and was born in Kingston, PA, then moved to Washington, NC in 1970 where he was raised. He is survived by his wife Sharon and daughter Mittie in Dahlonega, GA, his father Dick, in Washington, NC, 2 brothers, Jay in Stanley, NC and Jeffrey in Buford, GA, and several cousins in California, Maryland, and Georgia.
Doug graduated from Washington High School on 1976 where he was president of the Senior Class and was very active in other school events. Following graduation, he became active in radio and television working at WITN-TV and in radio as a DJ in New Bern, WITN-FM, while attending East Carolina University, and later he worked in radio in Winston-Salem.
He then moved to Atlanta where he established a Voice Over Company known as Cats Paw Productions and did hundreds of local and national commercials that were heard on all three national radio and TV networks. He later maintained that service on a smaller basis when he and his wife established a 180-acre vineyard known as Three Sister Vineyard near Dahlonega, GA, in northeast Georgia. He had a small studio on the premises which he still used to do voice over work.
He was a member of Rotary, Masons, and Yaarab Shriners Temple in Atlanta.
A memorial is planned at the Vineyard on Tuesday, March 21st at 3:00 pm.
