Millie Frances Beacham Prettyman

Millie Frances Beacham Prettyman, 71, of Williamston, passed away on March 6, 2017 in Greenville at Vidant Medical Center. Mrs. Prettyman was born in Martin County on September 4, 1945 to Mary Frances Hadley Beacham and Carl Lee Beacham Sr., who preceded her in death. She married Graham Ray Prettyman on October 13, 1981. Mrs. Prettyman worked at the Friendly Beauty Shop in Washington for several years with her mother, Mary Frances and her sister, Sophia Jane Carter. Once she retired from the Friendly Beauty Shop, she worked at Eastern Elementary in Washington as a kindergarten teacher’s assistant. Mrs. Prettyman enjoyed baking cakes, pies and other goodies for family and friends over the years and playing bingo.

She is survived by her husband, Graham Ray Prettyman of the home; her son, William Lee Prettyman and wife Gina, of Everetts; stepdaughter Judy Yelverton of Bear Grass; stepson Stephen Prettyman of Grifton; stepson Andrew Prettyman of Maryland; her brother Carl Beacham Jr. and wife Dalice of Bear Grass; brother-in-law Jim Carter of Bear Grass; niece, Leigh Ann Long of Bear Grass; nephew, Andy Beacham and wife Lisa of Bear Grass; nephew Jimmy Carter and wife Annette of Greenville; grandchildren: Chris, Wayne, Hope, Kelly, Elizabeth, Blake, Maegan, Maggie and Coulson; great-grandchildren: Austin, Abigail, Brody, Summer Rae and Aubrey.

She was preceded in death by her stepson, Jay Prettyman and sister, Sophia Jane Carter.

A memorial service will held Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11 am at Macedonia Christian Church, officiated by Minister Dolan Baker.

The family received friends on Thursday, March 9 from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home in Williamston and other times at the home of William and Gina Prettyman.
