Panthers still perfect

PINETOWN — Northside scored 15 runs over the first three innings en route to a 15-3 handling of South Creek on Wednesday. The Panthers got 10 hits and drew 10 walks to earn their fifth-consecutive win to start the season.

Reg Bishop, Parker Boyd and Braedon Burbage each notched a pair of hits. The trio accounted for 12 of Northside’s 15 runs — six scored and six more batted in. Other Panthers to get a hit were James Barrow, Brock Marsh, Zach Woolard and Tanner Alligood.

Boyd picked up the win on the mound. He toed the rubber for the first three innings, surrendering two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks. Alligood took the ball for the final two stanzas of the abbreviated contest, fanning five of the eight batters he faced.

 

Lady Panthers torch South Creek

PINETOWN — Northside scored seven runs in the first two innings and added four more in a five-inning, 12-0 win over South Creek on Wednesday. The victory marks the Lady Panthers’ third in a row to open the season.

Rebekah Williams, Rylie Newman, Savannah Slade and Whitney Cromwell each had three hits apiece. Cromwell, who had a home run in the game, accounted for nine of Northside’s dozen runs. She scored four herself and added five RBI.

Rachel Lang pitched five shutout innings. She was hit three times, struck out six and walked none. She only faced 19 batters in the game.
