Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.
All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs, ENC Shelter Cats and Washington Cat Rescue on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BeaufortCountyNCHumaneSociety.
Requests for more information with regard to the animals appearing in Pets of the Week may be directed to shelter staff in person at the shelter during business hours or by emailing animal.control@co.beaufort.nc.us — always use the animal’s ID number.
Goose
This big, tabby boy is handsome in his American shorthair coat, featuring colors of creamy white with ebony and brown stripes. Two-year-old Goose is a he-man — with huge, captivating hazel eyes, and a laid-back personality that is friendly and loving. He is especially fond of lovey-dove talk, being petted and wet (canned) food. When given the love, warmth and stability of a good forever home, he will blossom into a devoted friend, pet and companion. Come in and meet this remarkable cat. He’s available at the shelter through Saturday.
Gracie
A happy girl that wants to love and please, that’s our approximately 1-year-old terrier/pit bull-mix. Friendly and smart, Gracie is a large attractive girl with a shorthair coat of mostly white with light, fawn-brown accents. A sweet girl with an A-plus personality, Gracie loves people and their attention. She needs owner(s) willing to give her their time, attention, love and exercise in a fenced area or on a leash, and basic obedience training in a good, loving forever home — where she can be a faithful companion and pet.

Pay her a visit. She’s available through the following Saturday — not in a galaxy far, far away, but at the shelter.
