Nora A. Woolard

Mrs. Nora Rae Alligood Woolard, age 93, a resident of Woolard Road, Chocowinity, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Washington.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by Kent Gurganus and Aaron Stokes.

Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.

Avery Woolard, Tyler Jeter, Ashley Woolard, Jaime Stokes, Corey Woolard and Sam Walker will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on January 1, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Louis Carmer Alligood and Mary Bernice Singleton Alligood. Mrs. Woolard attended Pinetown and Bath Schools. As a homemaker, she loved to cook for her family, as well as gardening and canning what she raised in her garden. Mrs. Woolard was a member of Haw Branch Church of Christ and the Adult Senior Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Woolard was married to William Etheridge Woolard, who preceded her in death in May of 1995.

She is survived by three sons, Phillip Troy Woolard and wife, Barbara B. Woolard, Carlos Keith Woolard and wife, Mary Elks Woolard, and Ronnie Day Woolard and wife, Shirley M. Woolard, all of Chocowinity; half-brother, Lindon Lewis Alligood of Washington; half-sister, Gloria Ann Alligood Woolard of Washington; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Woolard was preceded in death by a sister, Ottlee Alligood Tuten; half-sister, Betty Alligood Wilson and daughter-in-law, Delores J. Woolard.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to the funeral hour Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home of her son, Phillip T. Woolard, 427 Woolard Road, Chocowinity.
