Barbara (Bobbie) Cox Alligood, 83, died March 22, 2017 at Carolina East Medical Center. She was born in Aurora on June 19, 1933, the daughter of the late Willie and Bessie Cox. Bobbie graduated from Aurora High School in 1951 as valedictorian of her class.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by siblings Irma, Lonie, William, Flora, Alton, Earl and Malcolm.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ernest Alligood; brother E.B. Cox; daughter Sherri Valerio and partner Sean McCracken; Lucy Holman and husband Matt; grandchildren Robert III, Richard, Ruben, Ryan, Rachel, Brandon, Courtney, Aubree and Connor; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Typical of her giving nature, she chose to donate her body to science. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Dublin Grove FWB Church or the Capital Humane Society.
