From the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain

WINTERVILLE — On March 16, the voices of 2,600 youth were heard as Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain kicked off the biggest annual campaign in its history with a $1.9 million goal.

Co-chairs Debbie Chused and Dr. Herb Garrison shared their passion for Boys & Girls Clubs, and Youth of the Year Joi Turnage spoke about her life-changing experience at the club. Annual campaign volunteers, corporate board members, Circle of Champions members and advisory council members from the organization’s five-county territory gathered to celebrate the kickoff.

“We have the responsibility and privilege to raise $1.9 million through this year’s campaign to continue providing a fun and safe place for children who need us most,” said Vice President of Development and External Affairs Theresa Gilmore.

The club has already reached 16 percent of its goal before kickoff, but needs the community’s help to reach this year’s goal, according to Resource Development Committee Chair Kelly Barnhill Jr.
