Mr. Larence Shelton Moore, age 90, a resident of 106 Rowan Place, Washington, died Monday evening, March 27, 2017 at his home.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home of his son, located at 403 Blount Place, Washington. A private memorial service will be held.
Mr. Moore was born in Beaufort County on February 27, 1927, son of the late Johnnie Martin Moore and Lossie Harding Moore. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On July 21, 1951, he married the former Marilyn Watson, who preceded him in death on April 20, 1998. On October 5, 2002, he married the former Frances Cayton Smith, who survives. He was a welder with the bridge department for the NC Department of Transportation until his retirement. He was a member of First Church of Christ in Washington. He loved fishing and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Frances, of the home, he is survived by his son: Larry Moore and wife Shelia of Washington; his granddaughters: Jamie Lyn Smith and husband Daniel and Lauren Horton and husband Chad, all of Chocowinity; his great-grandchildren: Hudson Smith, Dawson Smith and Blaine Horton; and other family members: Carol Sue Stowe and husband Guy, Monnie Smith Jr., all of Washington, and Blair Stowe of Grape Vine, TX and Gray Stowe of Chapel Hill, NC. In addition to his first wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his son: Lynn Watson Moore; his daughters: Sherilyn Marie Moore and Sharon Elizabeth Moore; his brother: Johnnie “Snook” Martin Moore Jr. and his sisters: Irene Anderson and Lois Jones.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: The ALS Association, The NC Chapter, 4 N. Blount Street, Suite 200, Raleigh, NC 27601 in memory of his son, Lynn, or Asera Care, 112 West Fire Tower Road, Winterville, NC 28590.
