Delilah Carawan, 88, of 901 Halstead Boulevard, Elizabeth City, NC, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Kindred Care.

She was born May 21, 1928 in Tyrrell County, NC to the late Willie West and Agnes West and was the wife of Donald Earl Carawan. She was a homemaker and a member of Cabin Swamp Church and was known by all her nieces and nephews as “Lolliepop.”

She is survived by one special nephew that she raised as her own son, Marvin Ray Cooper; thirteen nephews; eight nieces; and many great-nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Dorothy Cooper, Gussie White; and six brothers, Archie West, Acie West, Lawrence West, Herman West, Marvin West and Bobby West.

A memorial graveside service will be Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Cabin Swamp Church Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Coltrain officiating. Twiford Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, is serving the family. You may express condolences to the family by visiting www.TwifordFH.com.
