Mr. Donald Eugene Furman, age 76, a resident of 65 Red Bug Point Drive, Blounts Creek, died Thursday morning, April 13, 2017 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, officiated by Edmund Gurganus.

Burial will follow in Warren Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Furman was born in Portsmouth, VA on January 25, 1941, son of the late Theodore Howard Furman and Elizabeth Ruth Stevenson Furman Sawyer. On June 12, 1969, he married the former Rebecca Ann Rascoe who survives. Mr. Furman was employed with the NC Department of Transportation in the highway maintenance department. He was a member of Ephesus Free Will Baptist Church.

Mr. Furman loved to hunt, cut firewood and mow grass.

In addition to his wife, Rebecca of the home, he is survived by his sons: Christopher Furman and Bobby Furman and wife Christina, all of Blounts Creek; his grandson: Anthony Furman and fiancée Amanda Wallace of Chocowinity; his granddaughter: Haylee Boseman of Oregon; his great-grandchildren: Dylan Furman, Noah Furman, Sibalee Smith and Giles Smith; his brother: Bonner Sawyer and wife Amanda of Pantego and his sister: Teresa Huffman and husband, Garry of Belhaven. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson: Joseph Andersen.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service on Saturday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home of Bobby and Christina Furman, located at 2604 Mouth of the Creek Road, Blounts Creek.
