Published 6:34 pm Friday, May 26, 2017
Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East in Washington. The shelter will be closed Saturday through Monday in observance of Memorial Day. It will be open Tuesday through Friday, 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.
All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs, ENC Shelter Cats and Washington Cat Rescue on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BeaufortCountyNCHumaneSociety.
Requests for more information with regard to the animals appearing in Pets of the Week may be directed to shelter staff in person at the shelter during business hours or by emailing animal.control@co.beaufort.nc.us — always use the animal’s ID number.
Annabelle
This is a must-see cat! Not only are the colors — ivory, ebony, apricot, fawn and creamy brown — of her American shorthair coat stunning, but add in tabby stripes for a unique and mesmerizing display. When given the love, warmth and stability of a good forever home, 1-year-old Annabelle will blossom into a devoted friend, pet and companion. For more photos, visit www.facebook.com/EncShelterCats. Annabelle’s ID #0677.
Come in and see this remarkable cat — but not Saturday through Monday. She will be available Tuesday at the shelter.
Ruby
This 1-year-old, medium-size hound-mix is gentle, friendly and calm. Wonderful ears frame her pretty face, and a shorthair coat of white with red markings creates a handsome girl.
On her own for a while or neglected, Ruby is too thin. She needs to be fed quality dog food to build her weight back up by owner(s) willing to give her good care, love, affection, attention and exercise suitable to her condition — in a fenced area or on a leash — and some basic obedience training. Ruby deserves a good, forever home where she will be a faithful companion and pet.
For more photos, visit www.facebook.com/EncShelterDogs. Ruby’s ID #0727.
Come spend a little time with Ruby, but not Saturday through Monday. She will be available Tuesday at the shelter.
