Albert “Gene” Campbell

Mr. Albert Eugene “Gene” Campbell, age 74, a resident of Washington, died Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.

A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Oakdale Cemetery of Washington, officiated by Pastor Adron Modlin.

The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

Mr. Campbell was born in Pitt County on December 29, 1942, son of the late Albert Junior Campbell and the late Sadie Rae Harris Campbell. He was a 1961 graduate of Washington High School. On February 7, 1964, he married the former Linda Faye Crisp who survives. Mr. Campbell worked as a supervisor at Weyerhaeuser of New Bern, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church. In his spare time, Mr. Campbell enjoyed nature and the outdoors especially fishing.

Surviving along with his wife Linda of the home are: a son, Albert E. Campbell Jr. (Ruthi) of Greenville; a daughter, Lisa Campbell Blocker (James) of Chapel Hill; a bonus son, Jerry Adams (Kristie) of Blounts Creek; two brothers: Jerry Campbell (Jill) of Vanceboro and Billy Campbell of Blounts Creek; a sister, Linda C. Clark (Ottis) of Grimesland; seven grandchildren: Heather C. Creech (Jason), Sarah B. Pate (Jason), Meghan C. Gould (Richard), Anna Blocker, Ainsley Blocker, John Blocker and Heather Washington (Jey) and two great-grandchildren: Parker Creech and Lily Creech. Mr. Campbell was eagerly awaiting the birth of his third great-grandchild.
