Ryan Edward Gibbs, 23, of Fairfield, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 1, 2017.

Born in Beaufort County, April 12, 1994, he was the son of C.R. and Luana Carawan Gibbs.

Ryan was the best son, grandson, brother and friend anyone could ask for. He had a smile on his face always, which was followed by his infectious laugh. He will be missed by many, for there was no shortage of the lives he touched. With his easygoing, laid back personality you couldn’t help but want to be around him and love him. Ryan was most at home on the water. He made his living as a commercial fisherman working side by side with his Daddy; it was truly his passion. At such a young age, he had found his calling and was successfully following his dream.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Engelhard Christian Church. Rev. Scott Sukeforth will officiate.

Surviving in addition to his parents is a sister, Cameron Rae Gibbs of Fairfield; his maternal grandparents, Bunk Carawan of Swan Quarter and Colleen McKinney Carawan of Engelhard; four aunts; one uncle; and his sweet dog – Mindy Pants.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Curtis Ray Sr. and Wilma Gray Gibbs and an uncle Rodney Gibbs.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Gibbs, 95 White Plains Rd., Engelhard.

Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter, where online sympathy messages can be directed to www.bryanfs.com.
