Roy F. Moore

Roy Franklin Moore, 84, of Roper, died on June 29, 2017, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.
Born in Martin County, April 21, 1933, he was the son of the late Charlie W. and Roland H. Moore. He was married to the former Betty Taylor for almost 59 years prior to her death. Serving in the U. S. Army during the Korean era, he served most of his time in England. He was a member of the American Legion and he spent his working career with Weyerhauser Corporation where he retired as a fireman in 1998 after 38 years of service. He was a member of Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ. Mark Wilmoth will officiate. Burial will follow in Jamesville Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Robert F. Moore and wife, Ronda, of Zebulon; two daughters, Betty Margaret M. Williams of Williamston, and Janet Rebecca Moore and wife, Dawn, of Elizabeth City; a sister, Fannie M. Roberson and husband, Asa, of Jamesville.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by siblings, Mae Price, L. C. Moore, Wilson Moore, Marshall Moore, Daniel Moore, Mayo Moore and Tommy Moore.
The family suggests that memorials may be directed, in his memory, to American Diabetes Association, 6340 Center Street, Norfolk, VA 23502.
The family will receive friends between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday at Zion Chapel Church of Christ.
