Letty Swain, Brent Hassell, Cayman Pope, Wyatt Swain and Andy Comstock participated in leadership development workshops, attended a career expo, toured the North Carolina State University campus and networked with other FFA students from around the Tar Heel State.
These students competed in the tools event, placing in the top 20%.
Career and Technical Education (CTE) agriculture teacher and FFA sponsor Josh Davenport, accompanied the students.
Soft skills training
Tyrrell County Schools CTE staff participated recently in the “Working Smart: Soft Skills for the Workplace Success” training sponsored by Northeast Region Work Force Development.
This training will allow these CTE staff members to teach the soft skills curriculum to students at Columbia High School.
This curriculum will be shared within CTE courses as well as special workshops for all interested students after school or on Saturdays.
The CTE staff will offer this curriculum free of charge to adults in the community that are interested in improving their soft skills, including communication, problem solving, listening and code switching skills.
