From NCEast Alliance
NCEast Alliance has received additional support from the electric cooperatives of eastern North Carolina.
The electric cooperatives joined the NCEast Alliance in 2015 as an investor at the regional champion level. Before joining the alliance, they were strategic partners in economic development initiatives around the region.
Many of the industrial EMCs have staff members directly devoted to and involved in economic/industrial development.
At the June meeting of the NCEast Alliance board of directors, Eddie Stocks, Edgecombe-Martin County EMC vice president of member and industrial development, presented an additional investment of $24,000 on behalf of six EMCs — Edgecombe-Martin, Jones-Onslow, Tri County, Halifax, Tideland and Roanoke — and supplemented it with a $1,000 check from the N.C. Electric Membership Cooperative.
“The electric cooperatives of eastern N.C. are proud to support the rural economic development efforts throughout the region. We are pleased to renew our commitment with the NCEast Alliance and to leverage resources of our organizations to assist businesses and our communities in eastern North Carolina,” Stocks stated.
North Carolina’s electric cooperatives provide reliable, safe and affordable energy and related services to more than 950,000 households and businesses and 2.5 million people across the state. Affiliated electric cooperatives are private, independent and not-for-profit entities committed to providing a high standard of service for residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural customers with at-cost electric service.
“The electric co-ops of eastern North Carolina have been wonderful economic development partners for a very long time, and we especially appreciate their generous financial support of the alliance,” said John D. Chaffee, president and CEO of the NCEast Alliance. “They provide highly reliable and competitively priced electric service to many of the region’s industries and we really benefit from their innovative approaches to serving their customers, including the provision of incentives when necessary.”
