Mr. Linwood Earl Woolard, age 88, a resident of Braddy Road, Washington, NC died Thursday, September 21, 2017 at his residence.

Linwood was born January 9, 1929 to the late Corinne Braddy Woolard and Leslie E. Woolard, Sr in Beaufort County, NC. Linwood was a graduate of Washington High School and a lifelong member of Zion Episcopal Church of Washington, NC where he served as treasurer for several years. He also attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Chocowinity, NC where he was active with the parish life committee. He was a paper carrier for the Washington Daily News and also worked as a custodian for Beaufort County Community College until his retirement. Linwood had a great love for his mother and she for him, having spent all of his entire life with her at the family home place. As his mother approached her 100th birthday he became her primary caregiver, and returned to her a small fraction of the love and care she had given him throughout his life. Linwood enjoyed helping out at church, and anywhere he could lend a hand to someone in need. Survivors include two brothers; Leslie E. Woolard, Jr and wife Cornelia of Cary, NC and Myron T. Woolard and wife Betty of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Zion Episcopal Church, Washington, NC with Reverend Sam Grist and Reverend Sarah Saxe officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the service in the church parish hall. Interment will be held at the family plot in Oakdale Cemetery.
