Betty Jean (Branch) Bass, 83, went to be with Lord Jesus on November 10, 2017.
Service information: Greenlawn Chapel, calling hours 1:00PM with service at 2:00PM.
She was a graduate from Chocowinity High School in NC. After retiring from DuPont located in Wilmington, NC, after 30 years, she stayed home and read many books and enjoyed keeping small children. In 2007 when her health was not very good she moved to Tallahassee, FL, so that her daughter could help take care of her.
Betty Jean was born in Ayden, NC on September 17, 1934, to the late John Quincey Branch and Sally Freeman Denby. Betty Jean’s family includes her sons John Randy Burton and wife Kay of Wilmington, NC, and Don Wesley Burton of Leland, NC; and daughters Jeanine Burton Easton of Tallahassee, FL, and Betty Karen Ali and husband Shazad Ali of Gainesville, VA. Grandchildren and their families are: Michelle Burton and daughter Lexie and Angie Burton; Zachary Easton; Heather Lynn Hayllar and husband Matt; their sons Easton, Archer and daughter Zoey; Bryan Price and son William; and Siraj Ali and Waris Ali.
She is pre-deceased by two siblings who died in childhood, Billy and Beatrice Branch, and Laura Elizabeth Hodges who just passed on November 3, 2017. She is survived by sisters, Mary Leigh Civils Hawthorne and husband Robert of Hampstead, NC, Lois Faye Morgan and husband Carl of Farmville, NC; brothers, Douglas Branch and wife Lou of Chocowinity, George Branch and wife Patricia of New Bern, NC. Nieces and nephews include: Michael Hodges, John Hodges, Timothy Hodges, Billie Hodges (deceased), Claudia Eldridge, Ronnie Civils Jr., Jason Civils, Carl Branch, Edith Barbour, Tracy Phillips, Deborah Peaden and Rebecca James.
The family requests that donations be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308-5428 or flowers will be accepted.
