Dallas H. Rhome

Dallas H. Rhome died Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. He was born Aug. 16, 1944, to the late Dallas Lee and Eloise Gilliam Rhome in Washington, North Carolina.

He attended Washington city schools and Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina.

Dallas was an accomplished chef at numerous restaurants and operated Rhome Catering Service. He also had a career as a Beaufort County magistrate and housing counselor.

Dallas was a faithful member of Metropolitan AME Zion, where he served as trustee, chair of annual Men’s Day, on the pastor appreciation committee and as chef for the church.

Dallas was very active in the community with civic duties.

Left to cherish his memory are sisters Sandra Roberson (Allen), of Washington, and Cynthis McKie (Jesse), of Fort Washington, Maryland; a brother, Rogers Rhome, of Columbia, Maryland; devoted nieces, nephews, God-children, cousins and dear friends of Beaufort County and surrounding areas.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Metropolitan AME Zion Church. A public viewing will be held from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Leon Randolph Memorial Chapel.

Services have been entrusted to Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington.
