White Ibis on the Refuge

With a distinctively long, curved red bill, and long red legs, White Ibis feed below the surface of wetlands, searching for small crayfish, crabs and marine worms. Whether wading through shallow water on Pea Island or other National Wildlife Refuges, or on lawns and parks in town, White Ibis are skilled at catching frogs, lizards, fish, earthworms and snails. Highly sociable, they feed, nest and roost in flocks.
