Alfred Lloyd Tippett, Sr.

Alfred Lloyd Tippett, Sr., 84, went home to be with the Lord on Monday with his family surrounding him. He was born in Johnston County to the late Alfred Lee and Mamie Creech Tippett. He worked as a tobacconist for many years in several states. He later went to work for and retired from Southern Farm Bureau as an agency manager. He let his faith guide him in life and politics. He loved Christian music, barbershop quartets. He was also an award-winning photographer.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 66 years, Mildred Oliver Tippett, of the home; children, Lloyd Tippett, Jr. (Reba), of Blounts Creek, Debbie Hockaday (Ray) of Sanford, Libby Cox (Skeet), of Louisburg, Tracy Latta (Chris), of Holden Beach; grandchildren, Blake Hockaday (Valerie), Bramley Reynolds (Wes), Megan Lively (Vincent), Maria Allen (David), Bradd Nichols (Candace), Joshua Tippett (Taylor), Daniel Tippett, Brian Wichard, Dean Wichard, and Samuel Latta; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local church music ministry.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, at Hales Chapel Baptist Church, l3396 N.C. Highway 39, Zebulon, NC 27597, with visitation to follow the service.
