The Pungo Christian Academy, led by the efforts of Grayson Warren, won the 1A Tar Heel Independent Conference Golf Championship on Wednesday at Beachwood Country Club in Ahoskie.

Pungo’s combined score of 352 was good enough to take home the conference title. Warren, the only girl on Pungo’s golf team, led all competitors with a score of 74. Along with being named All-Conference, Warren was named TIC Player of the Year at the conclusion of the tournament.

Her performance at the conference championship earned her an invitation to compete as an individual at the NCISAA State Championship in Pinehurst. But Warren won’t be alone, as Pungo teammate Caeden Lyons qualified as an individual as well.

The state championship tournament will be played Monday and Tuesday.
